Branding
Villes sans violence
The project
Formerly known as the Centre for the Prevention of Radicalization Leading to Violence (CPRMV), the organization sought to adopt an identity that would be more accessible and more reflective of its mission. While descriptive, the CPRMV acronym was difficult to remember and carried little meaning for the general public. The new name, Villes sans violence (Cities Without Violence), allows the organization to clearly communicate its purpose while benefiting from a name with strong recognition potential.
At the heart of the identity is VISAVI, a contraction of Villes sans violence that provides a more concise, memorable, and approachable signature. The new logo symbol is itself an abstract interpretation of the word VISAVI. These forms also serve as the foundation of a flexible and evolving visual platform, from which a complete graphic alphabet was developed. More than a typographic exercise, this alphabet functions as a visual system in its own right, allowing the identity to be deployed consistently across the entire brand.
Designed to address sensitive issues related to violence, radicalization, and hate, the identity relies on abstraction, symbolism, and a subtle human presence. The result is a contemporary, flexible, and memorable brand capable of addressing complex topics with nuance while maintaining a strong and distinctive personality.
